Run against the center

June 1, 2009

A new commentary by Michael Barone suggests the Republicans should “run against the power of the center.”  It is well worth reading.

What he means is that the Republicans should be running against the more powerful central government that the socialist Democrats have been putting in place with frightening speed and ease.

It’s a natural: Americans generally are against big government, profligate spending and special interests enriching themselves at the expense of the taxpayer.  The Republican Party seem to have forgotten that they stood against it, too, and the electoral defeat of 2006 didn’t wake them up in time for 2008.

There is a grassroots groundswell for conservative ideas building in this country.  November 2, 2010.  Will they get it together in time?    Let’s hope so: that’s Change We Can Believe In.
