American Thinker

May 14, 2010

I’ve had American Thinker on the list of Blogs & Pundits since the very beginning of this blog but I have not emphasized it. It is, as the name indicates, a great site for think-pieces. I should read it a lot more often.

Today, there’s a really good post named Will the GOP wake up and smell the Tea? Sometimes I can do no better than direct you to another source: this is one of those days.

In January 2009, Rasmussen reported that something like 80% of GOP voters felt that the GOP was not in step with their grassroots. In November 2009, I talked to some RNC people and got the same impression. More recent Rasmussen polls show that not much has changed.

Will the GOP figure it out? Hint: the Teas Parties and the Liberty movement in general are about restoring traditional American values, not trading one progressive party for another. We want red, white, and blue, nor red or white or even purple. as JR Dunn concludes:

The GOP is being given that rarity in politics, a second chance. There will not be a third. Learn the lesson of Robert Bennett, or go to the wall.
Read the whole article: I assure you, it’s worth your time.
